well if the mini "replaced" the cube, then maybe they've got something in store...

Took'em only how many years to "replace" the cube with the mini? (Let me check my notes) In July 2001 Apple suspended production of the Cube indefinitely. The mini was announced in January 2005.

Listen, Apple! The mini is just right. Not too much computer, not too little, just right. Keep it alive!
