Huge Startup Problem

My MacBook's startup time has exponentially increased since my purchasing of it. Today, however, it was unbearable. It literally took 8 minutes of the Apple gizmo spinning for it to turn on. What is the problem? I haven't downloaded or installed any new recent programs, the problem has occurred randomly. Can anyone help? My computer has gone from taking 20-30 seconds to turn on, to nearly 10 minutes. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

wo !

ok i reckon its a corrupt system start up file(s) somewhere.

i would ring apple (90 days of phone support) or 3 yrs if you have apple care.

or backup all of your documents and apps and re-install.
- by inserting the os disc 1 and holding down c - then follow the instructions

JUST PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING BACKED UP BEFORE YOU DO THIS - if you chose to.

Ok, I think you may be correct about having a corrupt file. It seems there are some foreign files in my StartupItems folder, can someone list what should be there so I can get rid of the excess? Thanks.
