I am familiarizing myself with a new MBP. I have been a faithful winamp user for years but now am forced to find another mp3 player. I tried using itunes, but realized it was making copies of all my music.

Where are these copies made? I can't find them so I can delete them (and save valuable HD space)

With Itunes open, on the menu bar select:

itunes>preferences>advanced>general

Under "itunes music folder location" is a box that tells you where the files are being copied to.
You can also uncheck "copy files to itunes music folder when adding to library." If it is selected.

Just out of curiosity, how are you being forced to find a new mp3 player. That would mean that someone is forcing you to use a $3000 mackbook pro. Who is this someone? Give me there name so that I can punish them!
