partition a HDD for mac and pc

Your Mac's Specs
Macbook Pro 2.16ghz, 2gigram, 320HDD 7200rpm, dual-boot with XP.
Hey i have a 250 gig usb 2.0 external drive. Can i partition half of it to use for my mac and the other half to use for my pc? How would i go about doing this?

Hi Badderup - Applications, utilities, disk utility. The drive will need to be formatted as fat 32 so as to be seen by both Mac and pc. Then create a partition, to whatever size you like. After having done that you should be able to use the external drive in both computers.
