Yeah, its late, but it just arrived (its 10PM??).

My new Mac Pro

£8,500 for the following:

* Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
* 16GB (8 x 2GB)
* NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB, Stereo 3D (2 x dual-link DVI)
* 250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* Two 16x SuperDrives
* Both Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme
* Apple Keyboard & Mighty Mouse - British (wireless)
* Mac OS X (English)
* Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel)
* Apple Cinema HD Display (30" LCD)

* Five USB ports
* Two FireWire 400 ports
* Two FireWire 800 ports

I deserve a good computer :) Its also about £600 less because it (along with the displays) smells slightly smoky.

Its absolutely amazing! Although I probably won't be able to get a new computer for the next century (although part of it was from a distant aunty who left me cash :O)

I'm flogging my old iMac at the mo btw.

Are you sure your able to handle it? I mean it would be possible to have a serious accident with that machine that could result in serious injury!

Best comment yet :)

I think I'm going to let video/photo/audio editors hire it, they can just bring their media and hook it up in my front room (which looks very proffessional, just the MacPro, the iMac and a projector in there with white walls).

I'm broke now until my pay cheque comes :O

Knowing my luck, a brand new technology will come out tomorrow, outperforming my Mac Pro by many miles and it'll be cheap!

I wouldn't worry too much. Even when something does outperform it, it'll still be one smokin' fast computer. My dual-core G5 got outmoded pretty fast but it still beats the #$%^ out of all my friends' computers.

Well.

I must say. I've told a lie.

Its not just mine, myself and my girlfriend share it.

We split the money 50/50, So about £4250 each, £4000 of mine coming from an inheritance.

& About the insurance, its covered against theft & accidental damage (although if anyone damaged it, i would murder them :)), but I'm a Computer Technician so fixing hardware faults isnt a prob.

I've been told, although I wouldn't possible know what it is, but the dual 30" screens are good for something called 'porn' ? I dunno, its a mystery :)

Actually it's more like 17 grand, since I think the exchange rate is roughly one GBP for every two USD.

How I envy you, do you do a lot of video editing or anything or was getting it just for the sake of having the sickest Mac Pro on the boards? :p

If you do editing I want to see some examples of what that baby can crank out!!
