find, in finder not working

the "find" field in finder refuses to find anything. It just says "searching" and never finds a thing. Its pretty frustrating. Spotlight will find it in a second, But not the find withing the finder.

I recently did a complete format of my computer because the spotlight wasn't working but the find in finder was. Now i have the opposite effect. I'm really starting to get very frustrated.
