802.11n Question?

Quick question regarding 802.11n for you guys that I have not been able to find an answer for.

I have a Macbook Pro and today stumbled across where for $1.99 you can "unlock" 802.11n on your computer. Granted two dollars isn't a lot either way am I going to see any kind of benefit such as better signal strength, if my router (well, my neighbors router, we share internet service) is still 802.11g?

If you router is "G".. you will see no benefit with "N".

Like RIDE said, if you don't have a 802.11n router, then you won't see any benefit. In fact, I've heard some cases where performance deteriorated when using the Mac's 802.11n on a 802.11g network.

You have a Macbook Pro... Is it the Intel 2 Duo or just the Duo? N is not a feature of Intel Duo - just FYI.

His specs say its a Core 2 Duo
