try looking in Applications --> Utilities --> Activity Monitor
and see if there is anything that you think could be it

Activity Monitor isn't there. Is there a way to search for it?

This has become a quest! We must find out what that cow is! From the resolution, it's run by a very small file, and it appears to be a practical joke someone put on there -- when it's on go in terminal and type top and post the list! :)

If it is an Easter egg, then it is a part of the Final Cut software. If you are not aware of what an Easter egg is. Some programmer install little program with the main application. if you press a certain key stroke or click on a certian area of the screen. The secret program runs.

Is that to monitor the system to see if it's working right?

I thought so. He's a pretty cool Yak... just comes and goes as he pleases. I figured, why not make him my mascot. I'll make his eyes blink and he'll be perfect.

So here he is. =O)

I noticed the Yak today when I came back to my MAC with Final Cut Pro HD running. I had never seen it before I ran HD. So I guess they just started it after FCP4. I thought it was hilarious..I was thinking..*** is that thing doing on my screen? Then I went to click on it and it ran away..haha! I was curious of why and as I found here..it was what I was thinking. I have never had any viruses or anything on my MAC so I was pretty sure it was just an Easter Egg. I hope to see it again..but that would mean I'm procrastinating! Got to keep editing!!
