Upgrading my G4 Cube... help

Hi, I am trying to upgrade my Mac Cube from 9.2.2 to OSX 10.4.6
But its not alowing me, is is not possible to do this then?

Any help would be much appreciated..

Exactly how is it not allowing you? What is it telling you when you try this?

Is the firmware up to date?

Yes this should be possible I think. And according to This Apple Link your machine should be able to do it.

And if you're going into upgrade. Just go for 10.4.9 the latest version out.

We'll need a little more info before we can help you.

The exact message that comes up when I double click the OSX and Bundle installer Icon is "Mac OSX cannot be installed on this computer. Please consult the documentation for a list of supported computers"

Im not sure about the firmware, how do I check if its ok / out of date..

Thanks for your help, ill give those links a try now..
I also just restarted the Mac holding the alt key and it wont let me boot from the CD there either! Ahhh the pain of computers!! Thanks again mate.

What CD/DVD is this? Is it a FULL INSTALL of Tiger or a DVD that came with another Mac?

I have just updated the Firmware, but it still wont let me install, still says the same thing. cannot be installed on this computer!

Its a DVD that came with another Mac

And here's your problem.



You will need to use a retail version of Tiger. Sounds like you are using the recovery media that was bundled with another Mac. These cds/dvds are designed to run only on the specific hardware they shipped with.
