• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I hadn't used my fce for several months (i don't think this had anything to do with my problem, but thought i would mention it just incase) started to make a video. Captured some from my camera that i usually use, dragged it to the timeline, started to edit,,,, NO video shows up in the canvas screen. When i scrub in the timeline,, i hear the audio,, but NO video!
Any suggestions?

I use FCP not FCE, so the instructions may be slightly different, but I'd expect the options mentioned to be there.

Right click on the master clip in the FCE browser window, select 'Item Properties' and 'Format...' to see if FCE thinks you have a video track. If not then possibly you imported only the audio, so then figure out your setup and try again.

Perhaps you deselected the display of the video. Green round tab to left of video track.

I'd also comfirm the video on the camera looks correct by playing it back.

P.S. I almost didn't answer you because you didn't say if you did any debugging of your own. That kind of information can help people help you.
