How to access iPod via Terminal?

Just like the subject says, wow to access my iPod via the Terminal?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by 'access'? Do you mean you want to get a listing of tracks from the Terminal? If so, this is far less trivial than it may sound.

The only way that I can think of to do that is to use the DBI::iPod perl library and write an embedded SQL statement to pull the information from your iPod (sample code available on the link above).

cd /Volumes/IpodName

Why? I am just curious...

iTunes scrambles and renames all of the audio files and stores them in F0, F1 folders when moving songs into the iPod.

On the PC you can search these directories using the ID3 tags and it will return a list of songs (based on your search criteria) which you can then copy/move/etc.

I wanted to see if the same could be done on the Mac using grep.
