I got a Mac about a month back and I use Adium for instant messaging in MSN. But obviously, since it is an IM, I sometimes use words like 'rofl' and 'lol' and stuff. But dictionary underlines them, telling me they're not real words.

I was wondering if there is any way I could get Dictionary not to operate in Adium?

I don't know about Adium, but in most applications, if you control-click in the text area and un-check Spelling > Check Spelling as You Type, then it will stop checking at least until you restart the application.

There's also usually a similar checkbox in the Edit menu that is permanent.
