hey all,
I am not sure of the topic of this post as yet, there may be a few random questions but please bare with me! I would love to be more comfortable using OS X over windows. I also try to use linux (ubuntu) over windows on my desktop. But I still find it hard to completely switch over to either OS.
Firstly, I bought a macbook pro, and a wireless keyboard and mouse, so no complaints about the smallish keyboard and useless trackpad. First problem, is there a shortcut key to hold to scroll down pages with your non-mighty wireless mouse?
With OS X, I still find it a little sluggish and non responsive. This is one of my main problems. I have the same problem with Ubuntu but I don't think I should be asking for advice for that here. Just the general browsing of folders and clicking through files is noticeably slower than XP. Are there any little hacks or performance upgrades I should be looking at? I have 1GB RAM which I think should be plenty for general OS usage.
With the window positioning. Is there any way to save where you last had it? I find myself opening a lot of PDF's, and the preview application, always goes back to the same, non-maximized (XP term I know...) form, on the same zoom. Should I install adobe reader or something instead?
My shortcut to firefox in the dock, opens another little window where I have to double click that to actually open firefox. Have I not set the shortcut up correctly? I think it is mounting each time I want to run it, and perhaps not installed?
I know I am still adjusting to OS X, so this is far from a hate thread, because there are so many things I love about it. And please excuse my dumb questions. Thanks in advance for any advice!
