Airtunes Question - Use internet and music at some time?

If i Hook up the airtunes to my sound system and play music through my Macbook Pro, can i access the wireless internet in my house (not plugged into the airtunes)? I do have wirless in my house and use it. but I was curious if you can only connect to one thing at a time with the airport. So either connect with the sound system or connect with the internet but not both. ? and if this is true is there a way around it so you can pick up a signal from somewhere but still use the airtunes?
