Ha, what a load of rubbish! :)

<tongue-in-cheek> So let me get this right - a company that has a technology to sell/lease to other companies is complaining that these other companies are not using their technology.... hmmm.

The argument doesn't hold any water. There was a bill with language similar to that of the article called the INDUCE Act which hasn't gained much ground since its introduction in 2004.

The reason is because these companies aren't legally liable. They simply created software that had a legitimate, legal use (ripping CDs is perfectly legal, as defined by a court ruling). The license agreements for software like iTunes and Windows Media Player all specifically state that the company is not liable for any illegal activity performed with the software. Thus, MRT has no leg to stand on in their case.

This will either be thrown out of court or the judge will settle in favor of companies like Microsoft and Apple.

Anyone can state anything in a licence. Whether it's legal is another kettle of fish.
