I am presently using a Mac Book Pro with OSX 10.4 and I was wondering how do I change the default video player (Quicktime) to another player, like VLC player instead? I have tried to use the system preferences and the quicktime preferences but to no avail, so I figure I must be missing some setting within those menu's.

any help would be appreciated.

thank you

You need to change the file settings. Get info on a file that you'd like to open in VLC, and tell it to open with VLC, and be sure to click the Change all button.
