iTunes doesn't work when iPod is plugged in

When my iPod is plugged into the computer, iTunes stops working properly. If i click on Library the program quits. Also does this every time I eject the iPod. Its done this for ages, didn't used to and I was just wondering if it's happened to anyone else? Any help?!
