Mac won't recognise Panasonic camcorder

Hi. I've got some tapes recorded using a Panasonic NV-GS5 camcorder which I'm trying to import from this device into iMovie, but my Mac won't recognise it.

I've tried a few things, including unplugging all other firewire devices, but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Aaagghh! This is driving me NUTS! It's like using Windows again.

Nothing I do will make iMovie see this camera. It's got DIGITAL printed on the side of it, it's got a firewire port, but it just won't work.

Maybe if I throw it through the WINDOW...

Thanks. Those steps didn't work though. I even tried installing iMovie on my G4 mini downstairs, but that didn't recognise the camera either. Although it has "DIGITAL" on the side, and a firewire port, I can only assume this is due to the camera's age.

Aha! Done it! It's importing as I type. I have a suspicion the cable wasn't in quite right. Ahem.
