Screen problem?

When my macbook's screen is on but black, like after a fade out in a movie, there seems to be a dark strip up the middle of the screen, like the sides are being backlit better than the center. When it's not black it isn't noticible, though. Is this the beginning of a bigger problem, should I have this fixed or anything? Thanks.
