This is probably a really basic question but how do you extract a clip from a DVD movie to put it in imovie or idvd? I assume it has to be in quicktime format but I don't know how to do that.

Well I'm not sure, but a program like Display Eater can capture something that's playing on your screen and I think it saves it as a .mov file.

You can use Handbrake / MediaFork. Its a program that rips DVDs in a viewable/editable format.
