I've read about some RAM modules not adhering to Apple's standards as far as heat dissipation. Where can I get a RAM stress test to see if my RAM modules generate ECC errors?

If the memory upgrade you purchased doesn't have larger heatsinks like the ones your Mac Pro originally came with, they will eventually overheat and have problems. A lot of FB-DIMM memory sold only has a thin layer of metal because most servers/workstations that use FB-DIMM have special cooling for the memory alone. The Mac Pro doesn't have any special cooling setup for the memory, so the modules need larger heatsinks to dissipate the heat.

Buy a kit from Crucial as they have the correct heatsink on their modules. They use "Apple approve heat spreaders".
