Hello everyone im awaiting getting my new Mac Book in the mail from apple.com, and to say the least its torture! I customized it with 2gb ram 120gb hard drive. Now i was wondering is the screen high definition? If not what would be the result of lets say going to apple.com and watching the quicktime trailers as under 420,760,1080p etc.? Thanks everyone for the info!

All macbook screens are high def. They're 1280 X 800 resolution monitors. The differences between the trailer choices is the picture size.

the macbook screen is not 1080p but higher than 720p. you can watch 720p but it will be scaled up and if you watch a 1080p it would scale down but better picture quality.

I believe you go by the height in the of the resolution you are using. In your case, it is 800. In theory, you'd be viewing closer to 720 than 1080. As for progressive or interlaced, I don't know how these monitors work and how the picture is displayed.
Because you are sitting inches instead of feet from the screen, the feeling of HD quality doesn't really show. The screen I believe isn't superior than any other monitor on PC laptops.

If you hook up your macbook to a monitor/screen that can display at least 1920x1080 you will be able to enjoy full hd.

I'm pretty sure all computer monitors are progressive... not interlaced

Dude. Inches? I'm at least two feet (60 cm) away from my screen.

I didn't mean literally. Do you sit 2' from your tv?
Most people sit 1.5' to 2' from their computer and 10' or more from their tv.
The quality of HD diminishes the closer you get. Sit 2' from an HD tv and it looks like garbage.

I second what Bryphotoguy said. Although I did get what he was saying the first time I read it.
