I just got a A i mac g3 DV at a thrift store and it had a bunch of cd's with it and one is a os x panther disc.. but it's a backup the first owner had.

If i ever need to reinstall panther on the computer will i get in trouble?

I heard mac os difffers from windows and does not have copy protection.

So if i do ever need to reinstall will aple know if it's a copy?

Thanks

There is no god awful activation feature on a Mac thank goodness.

The OS X panther disk you have can be used to reinstall the system but it is very unlikely you will need to do this anyway. OS X is not like Windows.

Since it's just a Backup, I think it's OK in most countries. I believe in the U.S., any duplication of any media for any use it illegal. Here in Europe, most countries allow copying for personal use and backup.
