I'd suggest a macbook or a used Ibook if you've got a 1000$ range. Or a new Gaming PC if hes in to that. Wii's are pretty sweet.

Wow, my sensitivity meter must be turned off ... I didn't think his response was out of line at all. However, I didn't read any PMs or emails he sent.

Still, it seemed like a lot of people challenged him and got hostile towards him, first.

BTW, thanks to everyone who rep'd me for my suggestion ... wow, that was a surprise! Glad it made you LOL.

Stay safe!

I can say, firsthand (he is sitting here beside me) that the only PMs he sent were to the two individuals who offered the advice that touched a nerve to begin with and it was EXACTLY what he posted to everyone (the "hostile" note). He also sent one to someone else expressing appreciation for sticking up for him I think and the note to Schweb was basically saying what Todd said. I'd like to see if he has the boldness to post what Bellator1968 wrote him... It wasn't a nasty or rude PM it was merely stating the fact that HE was the one flaming the fire (verbatim I think is what he wrote) and that he was merely replying and stating HIS opinion and what does Schweb do... he bans him for life! Anyway, I'm going to bed... up early tomorrow (0400 as he would say). Goodnight all. Hugs and kisses to you Schweb

ROFL. Nice touch at the end. I can't help but sympathize with him. Lots of people come here looking for straight forward advice or aid, myself included, but others would rather impart some of their worldly wisdom. I got angry at first, just like him, but looking back it's just people being helpful, not trying to offend you. Personally I don't think banning was in order, but I'm not the moderator and have zero experience moderating an online forum.

I would like to suggest, in light of the day most of us had with the events at Virginia Tech and the conflicts it created here on the board (which Schweb and others had to moderate), that all parties take a day to rethink whether this whole thing was blown out of proportion.

I'm not a Mod, I didn't see the PM to Schweb, and I have absolutely no idea what sparks a ban to begin with. If I sound like I'm trying to second-guess everyone involved, though, that's true. Sorry, just my nature. :ninja:

Can't we all just get along?

Well, I'd have to agree. Honestly, he is simply sensitive to people giving advice when he's as wonderful a father as he is (and a single Dad at that). Perhaps Schweb will reinstate him... I think it's deserving. I've never been in forums and only signed on after this 'incident" to back him up. I just got him the macbook for his birthday and I know he's spent a great deal of time in these forums posting and reading and having a blast. You won't find any other so called nasty or rude posts anywhere in this forum. Do what's right and let him back in Schweb.... put this baby to bed!

So was it the Porn comment or the battery comment?

This is rather pathetic actually.

I don't really care WHAT kind of father he is. This is a public forum and people are allowed to post in it as they see fit, within the rules. Apparently he is upset because he can't control what we say and when we say it, perhaps unlike his "gift from god" baby boy. Do the right thing schweb, ban them both permanently. NOW you've got hostile!

While I appreciate everyone's input, no, he won't be returning. Sending a rude PM to the staff is not something that is tolerated here.

The staff reserves the right to define what is tolerable behavior here, and he crossed the line. Disagree if you will, but it's our intolerance of rudeness here that keeps Mac-Forums the type of environment that it is (which if I'm not mistaken is also what keeps most of you here ;) ).

Other than offering unwelcome advice, I fail to see where anyone was rude to him first unless I'm completely missing something? His response to their advice was unnecessary. His response was rude not to mention the fact he followed them up with rude PMs to members and staff.

I'm sorry if you find that behavior acceptable and want him reinstated, that's not the kind of forum we run here.

I got negative reps for 'back-tracking'. It knocked quite a few points off, so it was a regular member. Of course, no name. I guess double-standards are becoming common place here.

This thread is sad, for everyone involved. Can you just lock it and be done with it?

I'm not understanding what you're talking about? What double standards are you referring to?

I think suggesting porn and sex for a 14 yr old is a bit much...

How bout doing something like go-karting or a sport he wants to do like kayaking or something?

I 'backtracked' because I was not aware of the PM. I still stand by my first post.

As for the double standards, I received two negative reps. The first disagreed with me...for my opinion. The people on this board all claim to respect each other's opinions, especially the regulars. So why would I receive neg rep for it? Seems like a double standard to me.

If you are so worried about a "double standard" and rep on a simple web forum, you are in for a hard life in the real world my friend.

If this is a double standard, it's only because you percieve it as one. The staff can not monitor others opinions and make them agree with you. People will do what they will do and the rep system is what it is.

OK, seeing that this thread has gone off track, and that the OP has since been banned anyway, there is no need for this thread to continue.
