• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I was compressing my DVD to fit on my 4.7 gig dvd disc using popcorn 2 when suddenly I saw the temp. of my CPU jump to 143F after few minutes!!!! so I did stop ASAP! Guys any of you can give me reason or I was doing something wrong, or Popcorn 2 is now designed esp. for dual core Macs ( Im still using my baby G4 ). Any other compressor which is good for G4 that wont toast my CPU????????

Cheers,
Eric

dont worry about that temp - i think the fans come on at 60*c or 70*c so you are ok

tip: when doing heavy work like video editing use the laptop on a desk or cooling pad. - basicaly not on a bed or lap etc..

because material almost works like a bed sheet - keeps warmth in.

150 degrees is not enough to toast your CPU. If you were over 180 I would be worried. My macbook pro's CPU often sits at 147 degrees when all I do is web browsing. That really isnt very hot.
