iMac 20
I have an iMac 20 running 10.4.9 and a laptop running XP. When I am on my travels I would like to be able to access content on the iMac from the laptop.

IMac has a static IP and I can http connect to web sharing on it. I am trying to make the iMac available to Windows networking. I have enabled Windows sharing under System Preferences and it gives me a folder location I should use under My Network Places with XP.

When I try this connection it hangs and never returns content from the Mac

Are there other options I should be looking at ?

LogMeIn / Hamachi

I tried this service last night (LogMeIn) for my XP computers and it worked like a dream (it has both free and paid versions). It does not support OSX, however, they do ahve a complimentary free product that may work for you called Hamachi which does have a VNC portion to it.

Otherwise I'd suggest ChickenVNC.
