Along with being an all Mac family, my wife, son and I also enjoy scootering. So I thought I would share the latest addition to our family. I've had a Vespa LX150 since last year, but my wife was tired of me having all the fun so we bought a new GTS 250 for me and she adopted the 150. By the way it is amazing that the Vespa Forums I'm on also has a lot of Mac Users.

Anyway here are the pics.

If I every buy a scooter / moped, it's going to have to be one from the 60's - 70's... They looked so cool! Nice ones you have there too!

By the way... Those wheels on the first one would look excellent on my Jetta... To bad their 5 lug. :(

there are plenty of new ones that look like the old ones, even from the asian manufacturers...

like the yamaha vino

or the honda metropolitan

or the kymco people

not to mention the vespa that still looks like a vespa and the balaj that still looks 30-40 years old. oh, and "genuine" scooters that have a couple models that look like classics right off the assembly line.

The reason I went with a Vespa, besides the fact they have been making scooters for 60 years, is the retro look, but a modern ride.

I really don't understand this whole retro-look thing... A guy once told me i was "so retro"... I wasn't sure if it was an insult, so I let it go...

Edit: Is that scooter I picked out street legal?

Yes, it is a Honda Met, and is street legal. In some states the driver has to have just a regular drivers license, in others you need to have a motorcycle endorsement.

could depend on the engine too. in the same state, some smaller scooters may not require a motorcycle license, but larger engined scooters will. (you also may or may not be able to drive them on highways - or want to really )

I wouldn't dream of driving on the highway with that... I know the people that go 120 on the highways... *looks at self, and pats his car* I'd hate to get killed on a moped.

Even though the GTS 250 has a top speed of 75 mph, you won't catch me going that fast on a scooter with 12 inch tires.

cool thread!

this is the one I own.. I bought it new back in 2003 and it has 2500k+ miles on it.. its fun but I only take it on side streets and roads that have a 40mph or lower sleep limit.. denver drivers are way to crazy for me to get on any high mph streets or roads..

the best thing about it is the MPG.. I get right around 85mpg.
