I used Handbrake and now Media Fork to compress several DVD movies to play on my iMac - I simply went with the default settings except that I did click on h.264 (Mainline).

When I got my video iPod, I had to convert once again from h.264 mainline to h.264 iPod format (don't really know why). Both these play on the iMac, but only the one on iPod. I'm beginning to think the iPod versons look better than the mainline versions when played on the iMac and wonder which would be best for AppleTV? It would seem the mainline verson would be better for widescreen Tv?

I honestly think the differences are so minute it probably doesn't even matter.
