Hi. Is there a trick to renaming files in OS X? Half the time I open the file I'm trying to rename by clicking twice, and I can't find a simple rename option in any menu.

Thanks for your help.

My apologies: a quick google came up with the following:

Mac users can click the file or folder, then press Enter to select the text box more easily.

Job's a good 'un.

you can use the slow double click, but I've always had problems with that. I always right-click the icon, go to "get info" and change the name there.

Hope that helps.

Edit: oops, Eric beat me. rename4mac is a good one too.

Also, you can use automator to batch rename. I set up CM items in finder, built with automator, to do renaming tasks. Such as "rename all to lowercase" or remove certain characters, etc. Very useful.

Surely you just hit the key to the left of the arrow key pointing left(aka home) when you have selected the file..Works on my MacBook anyhow...
