Mail count is always wrong

15” Macbook Pro, Core 2 Duo, 2.4GHz, 4GB, 160GB HD
Okay in the mail application it always says the wrong number of items in the box for instance if i sent one email under (SENT) it will have a number 2 next to it so weird
