Not to be mistaken for the screensaver, which under System Prefs you can adjust the length of time before it kicks in, but what I find very irritating is that when, for instance, sitting back to watch a movie or interview downloaded from the web, the screen goes dull after about a minute.

I am aware this is my MBP's way of saving the screen from burning, but after a minute???

In otherwords I can't comfortably watch anything without having to touch a key or the trackpad every minute to keep the tone consistent.

Incedentally, my brightness is set to 3 squares below full.

Open energy settings in System Prefs, Its currently set to sleep your display after a minute it sounds like. Just increase the time before it sleeps.

Ah! My details were hidden... Thanks Stretch.

I do love the sound it makes when you click the lock to prevent further changes.

Smart players can disable that. Try VLC from videolan.org - it kick major butt.

You could also use Caffeine.. Its this cool little program that prevents your computer from going to sleep when its in use. You can find it here. :)

The OS's built-in DVD player is suppose to prevent the screen from dimming while watching movies. Apparently VLC does too?

VLC Player will not dim or start the screensaver when it is playing in fullscreen.
