My brother-in-law has a G4 PowerBook running 10.4.8 (or 10.4.9, not sure if he updated recently) and is looking for a webcam. Had Appple not pulled the iSight, I was going to suggest he simply get that.

I found a thread from this past January on getting Logitech cams to work with OS X, but wanted to ask if anyone had found any other webcams that they would recommend for use (that may not involve all the hoop-jumping that the Logitech thread recommends).

Any suggestions?

eCamm makes a webcam that is Mac compatible (iMage USB Webcam), as well a driver (iChatUSBCam) that will make many Logitech and other model of web cams work with Macs. See: http://www.ecamm.com.

Note that the iMage webcam is a camera only - no integrated microphone, so you will need an external mic as well if you chose to use it.
