Welcome to Mac Forums TylerH510!

What program are you playing the avi with?

Can you tell us more about whatever speakers, etc. you might have?

What type of Mini do you have? PPC or Intel?

What version of OS X are you running?

Kind of hard to tell without more info?

The sound is always rubbish on avi anyway, you're not missing much. ;)

i have to dissagree there yogi. Avi files tend to need divx player to be installed in order for the sound to be transmitted.

It all depends on what codec they've been encoded with. DivX just happens to be the most common, because it offers the best quality at the lowest fle size (From what I've seen).

Unfortunately, I've only ever come across one tool to help with this directly, but it's on PC. It would tell you exactly what codec you need to play a file.

Perian tends to solve most problems.

If that doesn't cut it, install VLC as well.
