For your amusment - this is my sad charger situation lol
This is what i have to do to get it to work.

The charger makes a buzzing noise when i plug it in too. I've only had this macbook for a little more than 6 months, so it seems really early for this wire to be crapping out on me.

That is so funny, but hey, it works for now and that is what counts. Take that adapter to Apple, maybe they will be kind to you.

Don't tell Apple about the clothes pin, or it'll go into their database as the official fix for everyone.

Got any animals in the house?

Just a little 3 month old kitten, but even though she's small she still might have something to do with it, she loves cords.

Ummm why don't you get that fixed.....?

I plan on it. It's only been in need of this ghetto-rigging since yesterday. :black:

Will apple just replace it? I have the apple care protection plan.

I had the same problem. My fix was some copper wire that I forced into the magsafe and the rest of the wire. It actually worked just fine, but I took it to the apple store and they were nice enough to replace it, although I heard its not actually covered.

Here's an update: Don't EVER EVER do what i did because i almost burned my apartment down!

I desparately needed my computer to hold a charge so i put the pin on there while i was up late tonight writing a paper. In the middle of my paper i hear this crackling noise and it starts smoking! I totally freaked out and pulled it out as fast as i could! Somehow a hole was burned all the way through the wire coating, through the electrical tape and onto the surface of that ****ing wooden pin nearly causing a catastrophy!

Now it's totally done, that charger is toast. So i'm going powerless. Luckily i finished my paper before my battery died lol.

Now there's no putting it off - i definitely have to go to the apple store tomorrow.

this is a good example of how dangerous this situation is. My friend had a very similar sparking and smoking coming from the magsafe area. I guess we should be really careful. I may even start unplugging my laptop whoever im not around.

Good thing you noticed that when it happened. I guess we now know why Apple never announced the iPeg - obviously there were engineering problems with potential fires they never worked out. ;)

Luckily the apple store was kind and i got a new charger for free. I also picked up one of these while i was there -

It makes my keys feel like my old spill-proof keyboard i had for my PC. At first i was skeptical, but now i've decided it is worth the $30.
