Greetings
As the title suggests, I'm dabbling with iMovie. Under Media-Photos, I can see all my photos, but when I drag them to a drop zone on themes, they just fly back to the photos panel. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, please?
Many thanks Mitcherooney

Hi Martin
Thanks for the reply, but no I didn't.. The drop zone will accept a still from a piece of film, but not (as far as I can tell) any photo although there they are in the panel... What else could I try? Not a dreaded Windows style restart.....? Cheers M

So, I got it to finally show the drop zone transparant window which appears just below the iMovie window ... see attachment. This is how you add the photos ... you drag and drop them into the transparant window which in my case has 3 drop zones.

I just imported a random movie file and then dragged it to the timeline, clicked on Themes and chose one then clicked on the media button and clicked on a photo and whammo ... the transparant dropzone window appeared. So don't drag the photo, just highlight it ...

Hi again Martin
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I've been away for 24 hours (domestic, work - boring stuff like that...). So I have returned to the problem and it is much as before. I have concluded that the problem is with iPhoto as, for instance, I cannot drag some pics to the desktop. Also when I view an album in full screen mode, whilst I see the thumbnail, the main picture is a dotted square with an exclamation ! in it. So I'm off to trawl through that particular forum to see if it sheds any light on the matter. Cheers M

Hi Martin
You will gather from all this, that I'm a mere beginner with the Mac way of doing things... Anyway, I dabbled with Automator' - it seemed like a good idea at the time to rename some of my photos from 'imag2044.jpg' to something more memorable like 'Maldives Feb07-001...002...003.jpg, etc.
What I think I did was to rename one of the folders contents like that and subsequently the pics didn't link to the originals in the library. At least, this is what I'm guessing at.
What I have now done is to drag the library to the desktop, then created a new library within iPhoto and imported the pics again. I have lost all the various folders that I had previously, but at least the original problem is now solved. Motto: Don't dabble with Automator unless you consider all the implications...
Thanks for your input Martin - Mitcherooney :p
