• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

You may need to move the com.apple.iMovie.plist file to your trash and restart your iMac.

Maybe you can convert it or save it as an iMovie project and import it back to your iMac?

Good to know Chris. If the problem is persisting in your own account you can try this:

Locate:

"com.apple.finder.plist"

and change it to:

"com.apple.blinder.plist" or something else that's not already there.

Also locate:

"com.apple.sidebar.plist"

and rename that suitably, eg:

"com.apple.sidepar.plist".

Log out, then in again.

Relaunch the Finder by choosing Force Quit from the Apple menu, selecting Finder, then clicking the Relaunch button.
Empty the Trash.

Check to see if things are alright. If they are you can trash:

"com.apple.blinder.plist" and "com.apple.slidebar.plist" ...

if not, then trash the new

"com.apple.finder.plist" and "com.apple.sidebar.plist"

Then change back:

"com.apple.blinder.plist" to "com.apple.finder.plist"

and:

"com.apple.slidebar.plist" to "com.apple.sidebar.plist".

The problem is elsewhere.
