How to: Remote access?

Does anyone know any good links or how to's on how to setup how to remote access a mac computer from another mac computer.

I've never done this before, so an idiot proof guide would be nice.

Also, I don't want to pay anything. Free is best.

Google search Chicken of the VNC. Download that on the mac that you are going to be controlling with.

Go in to System Preferences on the other Mac:



Go in to sharing.




Click Apple Remote Desktop.


Click Access Privileges.



Set these settings exactly as you see them (or if you care personalize them)

DO you know if it's possible to access the remote computer from outside the network? Like from school to the computer back at home?

Hmm. That's a toughy.

You may be able to thru Chicken of the VNC if you have the IP address of the specific computer. But Im not sure. you may have to do it through a very expensive Apple Remote Desktop app.

The easiest way, but not the most secure, is to configure your internet router for port forwarding.

Setting this up may not be "easy" or "fool proof", but it's a common network technique. Here's a few links and you can see if it's something you want to tackle.
