Apple MacBook Pro - 1Gb, 120Gb HDD. I'm loving the feel of that cold metal case.
any joy?

I stubbled across this last night. I'd like to be able to run Sage Line50 accounts but really don't fancy installing Parallels or Bootcamp just for one (boring) application.

On the site it says v11 is ok, but no tests of 2007 version.

I've been using it for a while and it really kicks butt.

I installed Multiple IEs so I can test IE 5, 5.5, and 6 + opera... in windows, but on the Mac. Pretty much indispensable for me.

It's hard to see the threads here... everyone talks about Parallels and BootCamp. But there is so little talk about Crossover. And it's such a great product!

No rebooting. No windows license.

Cross Over works quite well for SOME programs, but on the whole i would say most don't work on it. They keep making it better, so the only way you can really tell is install it and give it a try, you might get lucky.

That's somewhat the beauty of Crossover. Testing it!
You can install/uninstall very easily and simply. You don't have to worry about a windows installation, creating a disk partition, etc.

I'll get a demo tonight and install Sage then, and try some other stuff too. Will report back with findings

I'm still only a newbie on the mac so my findings might be quite 'novice', if that's the right phrase?

I've been using Crossover for the last 30 days. I have installed the following programs on my MacBook:

MacroMedia Studio MX 2004
Quicken 2002
Compton's Encyclopedia 1999 (old program - did this for fun)

All three programs run great. A little slow on startup, but that is to be expected. :)

Hope that helps.

Installed Crossover only to try my poker software.
Works great. Haven't installed anything else on it.

They give you a free 30 day trial just for being able to see if it will work with the apps you need. Easy to uninstall, so really no need to wait for other responses since they may not be using the same apps that you will want.

I took the plunge. I installed Crossover for my GPS software Magellan mapsend. It installed it ok but the program needs to have the CD running to work.. It wouldn't get passed the intro screen so it's a no go

PS I knew that the software wasn't supported so at least I have tried

Can you get viruses through it like you can on Bootcamp?

It depends what the virus is taking advantage of. Windows OS - no. IE in general, possibly. That's a good Q.
But the Windows file system doesn't really exist... so I don't know how any virus would react to that.

I installed crossover a few times....none of them I got my apps working. It wouldn't even install.

Therefore, I ended up installing Parallels Desktop! Amazing!

Go for it!

Any of you try Office 2007 with Crossover? Until this thread I hadn't even heard of it... and honestly it sounds much better primarily b/c you're not putting windows on your computer (no partitioning etc too). Love some feedback on what programs you HAVE run on Crossover... thanks!

Well, Everquest 2 does not run with crossover. Heading over to parallels' site...
