starting up with mac

i just started my brand new 24 imac and for networking it was asking for a password...

i dont seem to know it and im not sure if it changed as we switched dsl carriers from sbc to dsl extreme but we are still using the dsl extreme wireless router

anyone know how to find out the password..
just called dsl extreme and they made us connect the ethernet into it

but i would like to have less wires as possible so thanks for the help

When I was connecting to the computer on my network (two PCs) from my MBP and it asked for a password, I left the field blank and just hit enter. Try that.

and it let you connect to the internet ?

dang
i tried everything from what my old passwords used to be to just plain "password"

but ill try that

if anyone else had to go through this
help is welcome

It should be able to be left blank. If not, see if you can get your router's config settings and look up the password. Good luck!

thats the thing

i remember a few years back i was looking up how to get bittorrent to dl faster and it mentioned router settings and had links and everything but i cant find them

so new question

does anyone know how to get to the router settings

once i get there i think im good

i might not sound too knowledgable right now but i know little to nothing on networking etc.

:p


my mom and I are happy switchers i would like to add :D

It's either http://192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 OR whatever... Could you post your router make / model and I can help ya.

Set up port forwarding with a number like 50,000 and then set the port as 50,000 in Azureus, or whatever P2P software you use.
