• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey,

I'm a life-time Windows user that has just converted to Macs.. I love my new Mac Book, but can't figure out how to record video. When I try to do it with the program iMovie HD it tells me it can't 'locate' a camera. Does the built in iSight not record video?

Thank you for any help..

Yes, it does record video to iMovie.

The problem is that your iSight is probably busy serving another application such as iChat, PhotoBooth, or Quicktime. Make sure that any program using the iSight is terminated and try it again.

Welcome to the forums!

At the bottom of iMovie is a switch
has picture of camera on the left side and picture of scissors on the right side
click on the camera, you'll get a pop up, select Built-in iSight
should be good to go now

just had to do a search myself a couple of days ago to figure out how to get it started
