In the windows world an operating system upgrade means half of your programs won't work after upgrading. In the mac world does this mean the same? Or will programs that work with tiger work flawlessy in leapord?

Most programs won't have any problems after the upgrade, there may be a few that have problems.

Yeah, a couple problems, but mostly it should be smooth. It will be obvioulsy more smooth if you use more apple programs such as Pages, iCal, Safari, but i guess that is a given.
