Hi All,

One of the things that I have noticed as a recent switcher is the fact that many things on OS X have names which are totally unfamiliar to me, even though their function may be the same as a Windows equivalent. Is there a glossary or list of
words which shows the definition of certain terms?

For instance, what are disc permissions? Is 'alias' the same as shortcut? I know this may seem a bit mundane, but I also feel that switchers could be up to speed that much faster if the terminology was better understood.

Thanks.

Here is some thing on File system permissions. I believe that alias and shortcut are similar. As for a glossary of terms, I can not say there is one.

Oh and here's a super duper one! Apple Glossary-A.

Might be overkill though.

Fantastic, thanks to both of you.
