I'm not sure how to do pictures on here yet but I'll give it a go. If it works, this is me with my wife .... (she's the pretty one) ..... and before you ask, that was taken in 1982.

Good thing you posted the "Mug" shot. With a user name of "mattymac" I thought for sure you were female. "Matty" is generally a nickname for "Matilda". ;P

Funnily in Australia the home of Waltzing Matilda my son Matthew has been called Matty by the family since he was a kid.

The name Matthew is usually nick named "Matt" or "Mat", never "Matty" in the US unless you want to start a bar fight. ;P

I'm with Rod. Matty is for Mathew with one or two tw's. Also Charley is for girls - Charlotte, Charlene and straight out Charley and Charlie. All very confusing without getting into Kims, Robins, Chris's and Alex's.

Those Yanks are a funny lot Rod. Particualrly from Texas, vansmith tells me.

Yea I have friends named Mathew and we used Matty also.. Now with girls named Madison or Madeline/Madelyn was used Maddi or Madi.. Which Matty and Maddi sound very similar, depending on the person speaking tongue being lazy or not.

Well, I was not even aware of this thread - so, quickly put together a collage of a few images below - first from late 1973 w/ my 3-month old son when I was a radiology resident; second in 1976, now a board-certified radiologist in the Army Medical Corps at Ft. Bragg (a two-year duty); and finally from a few years ago after driving to Charleston, SC for a short vacation (look pretty much the same today) - Dave
