new internal hard drive not recognized

1.2gHz g4, 12 inch, 60 gig, 768RAM, bluetooth, ATI radeon 9200, macally bluetooth mouse, JBL speaker
So i installed a new hitachi 100gb internal hard drive in my ibook. put OSx in and when it gets to where you want it installed, the new drive isn't there. help. Please.

that's a no. how can i format it.do i just use my tiger disk?

I had the same problem. When you're in the installer, in one of the menus at the top there is a "Disk Utility." You can use that to put 1+ partitions the drive. That will format it automatically.
