A user of a network that I manage needs to access the network from home to retrieve email and word documents.

He uses a macbook and I've set him up to connect over a VPN via IPSecuritas.

The VPN is fine and connects OK. The roadwarrior can connect to the network mailserver OK.

The problem comes when attempting to connect to the document server; the Mac Finder does not appear to be able to use an IP address, only a share name. The email coonects OK because the mail client has an IP address to connect to.

How can I get Finder to utilise an IP address, not a name?

Thanks

Pete
