No Sound after RAM Upgrade

Hi,

I upgraded my 1.66Ghz mini from 512 to 1gb of ram recently but since putting the thing back together i dont seem to have any sound. Is there any chance a cable has disconnected or something? I m pretty savvy with computers but fairly new to macs, i reconnected everything that the guide recommends but seem to have no sound anymore anyone have any ideas?

There's a sound chip on the motherboard, so it shouldn't be affected by changing RAM.

Yep the sound is up, it doesnt work with headphones or speakers and even the start up noise doesnt come out, i was very careful when opening up the mini to do the upgrade so i dont see what i could have done to stop the sound working!

Is it less than 90 days old? Apple will sort it if it is.

I have had it since august but i bought it second hand from someone in the US (im in the UK) so its not under warranty or anything, seems odd that its happened at the same time as the RAM upgrade! bugger!

If you have the set of install disks that came with your Mac, insert the one that has the Hardware test and run it in Extended mode.

I haven't been following too closely the Mac Mini specs so... is yours Intel-based? If so, insert in the optical drive the install disk that contains the Hardware test and restart while holding down the D key. If it's a PowerPC Mac Mini, instead of holding down the D key, hold down the C key.

thanks ill try that when i get home and look out the discs! its a intel based mini for info.

okay i done that and it says there are no hardware problems, i am re-installing OSX to see if that makes any difference! wish me luck!

Still no luck, in "about this mac" it says that there is no built in audio?

Am i going to have to take this to a shop and pay ove rthe odds to get it fixed?

Have you tried booting with the old ram setup?

Edit: Also make sure that this cable is connected to the board

Im at work and brought my mini in to fix it it took me all of 5 seconds! just popped the cable back in and secured it and its back to its best now! I feel bad for selling it now but i hope its new owner enjoys it as much as i have!
