Hi everyone, I have a 14" ibook from late 2005.

Its 1.4ghz, 1GB memory, 100GB HDD, Airport and Bluetooth

When i put a cd or dvd into the superdrive it goes in as normal, but starts to load and just makes a weird bleeping noise, makes the noise 5 or so times then ejects the disk.

Any suggestions would be greatly appretiated.

Thanks in advance.

Is this with every disk? If not, you're disk might be scratched or not burned properly(if it is a burned disk).

I'm sure you were hoping not to hear this, but it sounds like a mechanical failure to me. Fortunately, you can easily replace the drive yourself. Other World Computing has replacement Superdrives at decent prices.

I suspected as much, just wanted to check before I installed a new drive.

One last question, I have heard that OS X 10.4.8 Has had alot of superdrive issues and I read this post from a guy who had install 10.4.8 on both his and his wifes ibooks, and both superdrives broke?

Is there a way of rolling back the OS to 10.4.2? Without the DVD drive?

Cheers
