im curious as to what i should be getting.

ive created a wireless connection on the mbp, and connect to it with the mb. everything goes fine, i can create a share...blah blah blah.

transfering a 144mb file from the mbp to the mb, i get about 1.7MB/s

the computers are less than one foot apart. This seems a little slow no?

yes i know, a foot apart, why not connect with a cable... well im just testing this for future use, which will be 20ft apart eventually.

so does my little network seem a little slow?

If the MacBook only has 802.11b wireless capabilities, you're doing fine.

If it has 802.11g (or draft-n), then yes that's slow.

also a note...

when the machines have the same share settings. i can go into the finder.go.network menu, and not see the macbook inside the finder window on the MBP.

i can do the same on the MB, and see the MBP fine.

hmmm???
