I was wondering if the Apple Install DVD's that come with your machine are system specific? I have a non intel based i-mac G5 and misplaced my original OSX install disc. I was wondering if I can use my MacBook Pro 10.4.8 Install DVD? Will it work? Will I have any problems? Thanks for helping out a newbee.

You will have a problem. The MacBook Pro media will work only on a MacBook Pro. You will need to purchase a full install of Tiger, for G5 iMac.

Yes they are machine specific. They have different hardware specs and firmware for the different machines.
