I just went to the Apple store and played with Photoshop CS2 on a Mac Pro. I was under the impression that PS didn't work on the Intel processors?

It works fine. It just runs slower than it would if it was a Universal App.

It works, but it has to run under Rosetta emulation software - sort of a translator between Intel chips and PowerPC code. With a powerful enough computer and enough ram, programs running under Rosetta run just fine. I can run Photoshop CS2 without a hitch on my MacBook Pro, but with my Mini it is slow as molasses.

The Macbook Pros will handle Photoshop CS2 very well and will just scream when CS3 comes out. :black:

For running CS2 I would recommend 2GB of RAM. Running just Mac OS X, default Widgets, and Photoshop CS2, I am left with only 700MB not used, on top of that, Photoshop uses a scratch disc that starts with RAM to store stuff for the program, a large cache if you will. 2GB of RAM lets Photoshop run flawlessly.

Yeah but if it means not having to restart every time I want to use it, I am willing to take the performance hit. I will probably get another gig of ram down the road, but I just can't afford it after this.

Thanks for all the info!
